Tracker · Chimpanzee
The first monkey sculpture coin
The idea of the series „Tracker“ is to show different hand and/or footprints of animals in their natural environment and the behavior of researchers in their habitat. The first issue is dedicated to the social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees and features the Year of the Monkey 2016.
A researcher is surprised by a monkey baby, rocking cocky on a branch and watching also quite curious the human in front. The situation shows his youthful naivety and the joy of swinging in the trees forward, but also his fear of man. This creates an intimate atmosphere between the researcher and the chimpanzee, the viewer of the coin can empathize what’s going on inside their thoughts.
If you put the separated sculpture on the coin, it looks like the adult chimpanzee is peeping over the shoulder of the researcher, without being noticed, the monkey controls the situation, without interfering itself. The sculpture stands in the minted footsteps and handprints. The matching box stores the sculpture and the coin separately.
