Year of the Snake 2013: Opal Snake

Year of the Snake 2013: Opal Snake

The Snake personality is believed to hold mysterious power and influence. Apprecia-tive of the finer aesthetics in life, the Snake possesses a keen air of calmness in situa-tions of conflict. The Snake’s ability to renew itself typifies the strength for rebirth and recovery. A resilient and strong willpo-wer enables the Snake to achieve objecti-ves never faltering away from its true fo-cus. The Chinese consider it lucky to have a symbol of the Snake for those born under the respective year.
Many say that it enhances the personality and strong characteristics of the Snake to have a symbolic Snake around.
The design for this 2013 Year of the Snake (1oz) silver coin consists of a representation of a snake entwined on a Gilson-Opal gemstone, surrounded by a line. The Opal includes the inscription ‘Year of the Snake’ along with the Pinyin pictograph pro-nounced ‘shé’ and meaning ‘snake’ in artificial black Onyx .
Gilson-Opals can express every color in the visible spectrum. In the Middle Ages, opal was considered a stone that could provide great luck because it was believed to possess all the virtues of each gemstone whose color was represented in the color spectrum of the opal. It was also said to confer the power of invisibility if wrapped in a fresh bay leaf and held in the hand.
